Fees and Insurance
We see patients privately, whether you are paying for yourself or claiming through private medical insurance. Our consultation fees are set out below so you know what to expect before you book.
Consultation fees
Your first appointment for a new problem, including assessment and a plan.
A review appointment for a problem we have already seen you about.
Scans, tests and treatments
After your consultation you may need a scan, blood test, injection or other treatment. These are charged separately by the clinic or hospital, and you will always be given a price before you go ahead. Shockwave therapy is arranged through a specialist provider, and any cost will be explained to you in advance.
Paying for yourself
If you are paying for your own treatment, you do not need a referral letter from your GP. After your appointment we will email you an invoice, payable within 30 days by bank transfer.
Private medical insurance
If you are using private medical insurance, please contact your insurer before your consultation to check your level of cover, any outpatient limits, and whether you need a GP referral. Your insurer will give you an authorisation code, which we need when booking, along with your policy or membership details.
Depending on your policy you may be liable for part of the cost, and some outpatient treatments such as joint injections and blood tests may not be fully covered. The contract for your care is with your consultant, not your insurer, so you remain responsible for any fees your insurer does not pay.

Beyond this, we hold no financial interest in the private hospitals or clinics where we see patients, and we do not sit on the executive board of any private hospital or clinic.
